Arigoto, Shamu. Is there anyway to post a sheet on the steps/moves to basic kata 1? It'd be esp helpful to me to see a list of the degrees of the turns for each of the steps too -- e.g., 270 degree turn initiatated off the back foot; 90 degree turn initiated from front foot...

Here's a quicktime video of the steps for Basic 1 from the Univ. of Georgia:

Tony,

Here's a diagram for the steps in Basic Kata 1 (with notes in German, I think!)

Thanks, Russ!

I also found a vid of basic kata one, accompanied by a helpful bird's eye view of the steps, on the "Traditional Karate Center" website.  Even though in their form, the person performing the kata (much better than I do) doesn't look over his shoulder in transition, it's very cool --

Did you see how big his steps were. Instead of sliding his feet he was clopping all over the place. Even though his form appeared sharp, he had an overall jerky look to me. Then again, my form is reminiscent of Godzilla plowing through a Japanese city.
I can't seem to open the PDF file. I get an error saying the file cannot be found. Any ideas???
